Mark Canha drives in 4 runs to help Mets take series over NL East rival Phillies

Published Wed, 05 Mar 2025 02:23:06 GMT

Mark Canha wants to stop turning his head when he’s swinging a bat. But he made heads turn all over Citi Field on Wednesday with his home-run heroics. The Mets outfielder went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and drove in all four runs to help the Mets edge the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-1, and take a key series from their NL East foes.Canha hadn’t hit a home run since May 3 and had struggled to match his production from last season. The Mets had given him days off in recent weeks as he worked in the cages to tweak his swing. He was confident that a turnaround was coming, and this game could have been the start of that. With the Mets (29-27) down 1-0 after Edmundo Sosa’s home run in the top of the third, Canha hit one out of the park to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. He drove in two more with a single in the fourth and Carlos Carrasco and the bullpen made the lead stand up.Carrasco (2-2) seems to have turned a corner after a dismal start to the season and an injured list stint ...

The first was to the floor of Port Neal Welding in Salix, a rural town near Sioux City, where the nearby highway was lined with metal structures including a towering Jesus, a version of the Statue of Liberty and the Minions. DeSantis also hit Council Bluffs and Pella before concluding his day in Cedar Rapids. All that came after a Tuesday night appearance in the state capital, Des Moines. He didn’t take audience questions — usually a staple at Iowa presi...

Reports: Prosecutors have tape of Trump discussing holding onto classified doc after leaving office

WASHINGTON (AP) — Justice Department prosecutors have obtained an audio recording of former President Donald Trump from after he left office in which he talks about holding onto a classified Pentagon document related to a potential attack on Iran, according to media reports.CNN first reported that Trump suggested on the recording that he wanted to share with others information from the document but that he knew there were limitations about his ability to declassify records after he left office. The recording could also be a key aid for prosecutors looking to prove Trump knew his ability to possess classified documents was limited. The recording has been provided to special counsel Jack Smith, whose team of pros...
