Volunteers start New Year by cleaning up Mount Vernon Trail

On a New Year’s morning when plenty of runners and cyclists took to the Mount Vernon Trail to get their first workout of the year in, a group of volunteers hit the trail with trash bags and equipment designed to fill potholes.Mall Davis, a truck driver from Prince George’s County, Maryland, was among the first to arrive, ready and eager to get started. (AP) — Bo Melton has been signed to the Green Bay Packers’ active roster one day after his breakthrough performance in a 33-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.The Packers announced Monday they have signed Melton off their practice squad and have placed wide receiver Samori Toure on injured reserve. The Packers also signed safety Tyler Coyle to their practice squad.Melton caught six passes for 105 yards against the Vikings, earning him a game ball from coach Matt LaFleur. The original story continues below.DENVER (KDVR) — Police are searching for a suspect in a Commerce City homicide.According to the Commerce City Police Department, officers were called to a shooting in the area of 78th and Dahlia Street early Monday morning. The area is east of the Pelican Ponds Open Space.It is believed the suspect and the victim knew each other and the incident was not random. The victim was identified as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s. One man is in hospital after a fire at a residential townhouse in Scarborough on Monday night.Toronto Fire responded to a call just after 6:45 p.m. in the area of Guildcrest Drive and Guildwood Parkway of a fire at townhouse.Adjoining homes were evacuated and a shelter bus was ordered for residents.Medics assessed two people on scene with reported injuries and one man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.There are road closures in the area.Latest news
