AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The season for holiday decorations is almost over, which means lots of people are going to be figuring out what to do with their live Christmas trees. Instead of dumping them, consider recycling. The Austin Resource Recovery encourages Austinites to give their trees a second life by repurposing them into mulch or compost, and starting Dec. 26, the City of Austin curbside customers can place all-natural holiday trees curbside to be collected on their regularly scheduled composting collection day. Trees can also be dropped off at Zilker Park for recycling. The City of Austin has been recycling holiday trees for over thirty years. Only all-natural trees are accepted. If being recycled curbside, trees should be set out by 5:30 a.m. All ornaments, decorations (including tinsel), lights and tree stands must be removed, and trees six feet or taller should be cut in half. Trees sprayed with flocking are not accepted, and trees should not be placed in plastic bags. The 37th A...Two teens reported missing, last seen in Elizaville

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A St. Peters man reeled in a state-record-matching fish from the Missouri River earlier this month. The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that Anthony Rozniak caught a three-pound skipjack herring on Dec. 6 while fishing with his brother near St. Louis. Rozniak and his brother were hoping to reel in catfish that day. His first catch of the day was a one-and-a-half-pound skipjack. Moments later, Rozniak enjoyed an even bigger surprise. Soulard bar owners question legitimacy of NYE bar crawl promoted online “The very next cast was double that size,” he told MDC. “We had only been out fishing for 15 minutes by the time I caught it. I looked at my brother and said, ‘I hate to cancel our fishing trip, but we got a state record! We got to go!’”MDC officials weighed the fish at their St. Louis regional office. MDC says Rozniak matched the pole-and-line record for a skipjack herring, also attained in 2017 and 2019 in the Osage River. Close ...Do you have slow Wi-Fi this holiday season? Are you using your headlights properly? Missouri law has guidelines on light usage When the Christmas lights' electrical noise mingles with Wi-Fi signals, it can lead to slowed connections or brief outages. To combat Wi-Fi interference, opt for high-quality LED Christmas lights that adhere to electromagnetic compatibility standards. These lights a...Latest news
