As the trial for a former Parkland school resource officer enters its second day Thursday, more tough testimony was heard by a jury. Scot Peterson is accused of failing to protect students during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting. Peterson is facing seven felony child neglect charges for not confronting the shooter during the massacre at the high school back in 2018.During the second day of testimony, Coral Springs Police Sgt. Jeff Heinrich recounted Peterson’s lack of action when the shooting took place. “I had no contact with him the entire day,” Heinrich said. According to his attorney, Peterson wasn’t sure where the shots were coming from during that day. Heinrich pushed back on that claim when challenged. “Isn’t it a fact, that in real time, when you’re hearing those shots, from where you described your position, you didn’t narrow it down and say, ‘Well this is only the place those shots could be,’ correct?...10-year-old girl survives more than 24 hours alone in the rugged Cascade mountains after getting lost while out with her family

At one time, no one had ever heard of a telegraph operator. An electrician. Auto mechanic. TV producer. X-ray technician. Software developer. Webmaster. Cybersecurity specialist.Advancements in technology have always spawned new kinds of jobs while rendering other ones obsolete. Artificial intelligence will be no exception. Right now, we don’t fully know what those jobs will be. But that hasn’t stopped job seekers from trying to find out.Prognosticators say artificial intelligence will likely have a similar impact on the labor market — and workers want to get in on the ground floor. But it’s clear that even employers don’t know what those jobs are. Not yet, at least. To be clear, automation and, to a certain extent, AI have been part of the labor market for quite some time. Who among us hasn’t had an infuriating exchange with a chatbot? But interest in employment related to AI has skyrocketed in the past two years. By DARLENE SUPERVILLE (Associated Press)WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden unveiled new initiatives Thursday to protect LGBTQ+ communities but hastily postponed a big Pride Month celebration on the White House lawn with thousands of guests from around the country because of poor air quality from the Canadian wildfires. The event, which will now be held on Saturday, was intended to be a high-profile show of support at a time when members of the LGBTQ+ community feel under attack like never before and the White House has little recourse to beat back a flood of state-level legislation against them. The Biden administration announced initiatives designed to protect LGBTQ+ communities from attack, help young people with mental health issues and homelessness, and counter book bans, though the effects may be limited. Biden was to discuss them at the event, which the White House had said would be the largest Pride Month celebration ever held there. Thousands of guests had been invi...Biden and Sunak hold White House talks on daunting challenges to Ukraine, world economy
