Crowe’s Nest Farm bounces back after pandemic slow-down, now full of field trips

MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — Summer is set to start this week for many school children throughout Central Texas.As plenty of parents search for fun activities to entertain their kids, one special spot in Manor has made a major comeback after a slow-down during the COVID-19 pandemic.Crowe’s Nest Farm is an animal sanctuary where people can learn and interact with all sorts of animals that have been rescued.David Williams has been working at the farm since it opened in 1983."Our mission is to help kids understand the value of all living things,” he said.With 90% of its revenue coming from field trips, the nonprofit nearly shut down during the pandemic."We thought the farm was done because we depend on school field trips,” Williams, said. “That's our bread and butter to keep the farm alive."Through private donations, over $150,000 was raised for the farm."People remembered coming out here when they were a kid and they didn't want us to disappear,” Williams said. “They didn't want us to go awa...All lanes closed after crash on NY 67 in Stillwater

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Homeowners in a St. Charles subdivision are crossing their fingers and hoping the county government lives up to its promise of a buyout. At least two homeowners are fearful of their houses sliding down the hill.St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann had promised there would be buyouts for homes in danger of sliding down the hill, but homeowners said they’re not getting much reassurance, even as their retaining walls are sinking."Yeah, I've asked but I haven't heard anything. ST. LOUIS - A one-vehicle crash on Interstate-70 EB has closed one lane Monday morning. Our Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX helicopter was flying over the area, where a van ran off the road, and hit a light pole. Emergency crews are now blocking lanes on the main highway. Bill Goldstein was terrified the day he took his first lesson in adaptive skiing at Eldora Mountain Resort. He had moved from New York City to Colorado for skiing, only to lose his left leg soon after the move due to a diabetic infection. Despite his initial fears, his passion for skiing was renewed through Ignite Adaptive Sports at Eldora Mountain Resort.“My first day at Ignite was the first day I was part of the disabled community,” Goldstein said. “It was like, ‘Wow, I’m one of them.’ It really gave me a much deeper connection to other disabled individuals and their families. Now that I’m a lead instructor, my prosthetic is the best prop I could ever have. It’s really become my life’s work.
