Police: Man arrested for violently attacking woman in Boston, trying to take off her clothes

A Quincy man is facing indecent assault charges after police say he grabbed a woman from behind in Boston, forced her onto the ground, and began punching her while trying to take her clothes off before witnesses stepped in to stop him.Officers responding to a radio call for an assault and battery in progress in the area of West Canton and Appleton streets around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night arrested Amos Sykes, 35, on charges of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and assault and battery resulting in injuries, according to police.An investigation determined several witnesses heard the sound of someone screaming and saw Sykes attacking the woman as he sat on top of her. The woman said she had been walking on Columbus Avenue when she was attacked from behind. Police are investigating after a driver slammed into three parked cars and a building in Taunton early Sunday morning before running away from the scene, police said.Officers responding to a report of a car into a commercial building in the area of 59 Broadway around 2 a.m. found a Toyota Tundra that had hit three unoccupied cars and crashed into the front of a building, according to a statement issued by Taunton Police Chief Edward J. Walsh.The driver, a 22-year-old man, was found at his home uninjured. He was evaluated before being taken to an area hospital. The US Coast Guard is searching the water off Nantucket for a missing fisherman who was reported missing Saturday night.Around 8 p.m. the crew of the Gaston’s Legacy reported one of their crewmen was missing.The Coast Guard tasked an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Cape Cod and a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Brant Point to search the area within the hour. HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. — A teen is dead after a shooting in Highland Park on Sunday, according to police.Highland Park officers say the deadly shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Green Bay Road.The victim, a 16-year-old boy from Highwood, was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.According to police, the shooting appears to have been targeted and witnesses described the offender as a man dressed in all black riding a bicycle.
