Alexander Mattison or Ty Chandler: Will the Vikings make a change at running back?

It might’ve been the biggest play of the Vikings-Broncos game last weekend. The way the Vikings were moving the ball at that point late in the third quarter, a touchdown almost started to feel inevitable. It seemed as if Minnesota was going to run away with a decisive win for a change. Then running back Alexander Mattison took a handoff on first down and promptly coughed it up.That put the Vikings right back in the meat grinder on their way to a frustrating 21-20 loss to the Denver Broncos.Asked about the fumble in the immediate aftermath, head coach Kevin O’Connell acknowledged it was a pivotal play that had a big impact on the outcome. He has preached the importance of ball security ad nauseam this season, and while the Vikings had managed to rectify the issue for the most part, it reared its ugly head at the worst possible time.“We’ve had some momentum as a football team,” O’Connell said roughly 30 minutes after the loss. “We learned again tonig...Gophers linebacker Cody Lindenberg returns vs. Wisconsin

ST. LOUIS - Leonard Griggs, a former Air Force colonel and longtime director of the St. Louis Lambert International Airport, died earlier this week at the age of 92. Griggs served as the airport director in nearly two decade-long terms from 1977 to 1987 and 1993 to 2004, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, current Lambert airport director, tells FOX 2 that Griggs had a significant impact on the operations and federal funding of the airport. "Over the two decades he was there, he fought in Washington for every federal dollar that was there, and it was for the betterment of the airport," said Hamm-Niebruegge. "He really fought to make sure that impact was as best as it could possibly be." Griggs was one of several airport leaders during the time Lambert Airport pushed for growth through a billion-dollar runway known as W1W. Those plans were met with some local opposition, however, leading to nearly 2,000 homes and businesses being forced out of the City o...Fly found in man's intestines during Missouri colonoscopy

MISSOURI - A routine colonoscopy exam in Missouri leads to a bizarre discovery. Doctors recently found an intact fly inside one man's intestines. The American Journal of Gastroenterology shared more about this "mysterious finding" in a new case report published in October. It cites information from the Division of Gastroenterology within the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia. Officials say a 63-year-old patient had no known family history of colon cancer and prepared for the colonoscopy adequately. He was undergoing a normal procedure until doctors reached the transverse colon. Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson looks like a winner again. The statistics don’t count, just winning. It was a bad situation for everyone last year, and now Wilson is showing us how good he is.Gerard, driving the bandwagonKiz: We’ve all seen it. DangeRuss can be a robot. By stubbornly shielding the human emotions in his heart, Wilson can make it difficult for teammates or fans to embrace him. But know what? His cold, calculating nature has also helped Wilson and the Broncos recover from an awful 1-5 start to this season. A quarterback who burns too hot might well have let his ego get in the way of the efficient game management in which Wilson sacrifices big passing numbers for the good of Denver’s no-nonsense approach to winning.Wilson has been better than I expected. But I still don’t want him on the team next season, and not much short of a trip to the Super Bowl can change my mind.G.B., watching from CaliKiz: There are no guarantees in life or the NFL. The prodigal son is gone. Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith accepted Michigan State’s contract offer on Saturday, one day after his alma mater suffered a season-ending loss to Oregon that felt funereal on multiple levels:— Their last regular-season game in the Pac-12.— Their last scheduled rivalry game against the Ducks.— Their last game with Smith on the sideline. This is not a gut punch, folks. It’s a right cross to an exposed jaw as the Beavers scramble to secure their future following the implosion of the Pac-12. Is Oregon State rebuilding the conference? Will it eventually join the Mountain West? How deep are the resources? How thin is the roster? It’s brutal timing in every regard. Candidates for the position will have a slew of questions the school simply cannot answer. That said, we view this as the wrong move for Smith — not because he’s leaving OSU, which is understandable given the uncertainty, but because Michigan State is the...San Jose Sharks prospects have stellar games, with one starring on “Shoresy Night”

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks front office and scouting staff had to have liked what they saw from 2023 first-round draft picks Will Smith and Quentin Musty on Friday night, not to mention their seasons in general.Smith, selected fourth overall by the Sharks in June, had three assists for No. 2 Boston College in its 6-1 non-conference win over No. 18 Notre Dame on Friday. The 18-year-old Golden Eagles freshman now has a seven-game point streak in which he has two goals and nine assists and he’s third among all Hockey East players with 19 points in 13 games.Topping that list is Boston University’s Macklin Celebrini, a former Jr. Shark, who has nine goals and 22 points in 12 games. Celebrini is widely thought to be the best player available in the 2024 NHL Draft, and if the Sharks finish with the league’s worst record this season, they will have a 25.5 percent chance of winning the draft lottery and selecting first overall.Musty, taken 26th overall by the Sharks in June, had a five-p...Latest news
